As a university student, you find yourself academically challenged every day. Learning is, after all, the main point of going to college. It is also one of the main reasons for having a campus ministry. At ULC you will find all sorts of opportunities to study and grow in your faith. ULC offers indepth catechesis (instruction) and studies on a wide variety of topics. Whether you are looking for an indepth, verse-by-verse study of the Scriptures, a topical study that will help you face a challenging or controversial issue in the university classroom, or a course on the basics of the Christian faith, you can find it at ULC.
You can also take advantage of unique opportunities to study at the feet of some of the great theologians and pastors of the Lutheran Church. Each year ULC invites at least three major speakers to come and teach our students and members. Past speakers have included such luminaries as:
Sunday morning Bible Class meets at 8:45 each Sunday morning in the chapel lounge. This is a great study to get indepth in the Scriptures.

Table Talk meets each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. for a ULC homemade meal and topical Study. Past studies have included Bioethics, the Apostolic Fathers, the Theology of the Cross, Worship and the Body, to name but a few. Be sure to stay after for Wednesday Evening Vespers!

Join us for LSF Sunday Lunch every other Sunday after the Divine Service to go out for lunch and talk about issues in university life, life in general, and theology. There is a new topic each time, which makes this a great study if you can't make it several weeks in a row.

Undergraduate Women's Bible Study
This Bible Study is taught by our deaconess intern, Shaina Mitchell and meets in Coffman Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights. Topic: Catechism Review.
Didache is a course in the basic teachings of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod as they are drawn from the Holy Scriptures, confessed in the Small Catechism and expressed in the liturgy. This course is intended for those who seek communicant membership in the LCMS as well as those who desire a refresher course in doctrine. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Kind.
During the regular school year, ULC offers Sunday School classes to children from pre-school through the 8th grade. Classes are taught by members using the standard curriculum from Concordia Publishing House. Students are also taught to memorize the Small Catechism and several of the chief hymns used in Church.
Junior Catechesis
Catechism classes are available to children in preparation for confirmation and full participation at the Lord's Supper. Classes meet on Wednesday afternoons at 4:15 during the school year.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School will be held June 16th -20th, 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 Noon. This year our program will be on the Church Year. Registration forms are available at ULC. If you are interested in helping, please see Shaina.
Patristics Study Group
During the regular school year, ULC hosts a monthly study group at which we read and discuss the writings of the Early Church fathers. Patristics meets the third Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. and provides a wonderful forum for the discussion of theological issues past and present. Participating pastors usually take turns leading each session. Guest speakers are occasionally invited to give a presentation in their field of study. Recent guest presenters have included Dr. Oliver Olsen and Dr. Jim Nestingen. Our current topic is The Ecumenical Councils. Though primarily a clergy study group, interested ULC students are invited and encouarged to attend and participate. For more information visit the Patristics page. Next session: April 20, 2008.
