CONCERT AT ULC: Sunday, Sept 12 at 4:00 p.m. Ensemble Polaris will present the Sacred Music of Henry Purcell, featuring a rare performance of “Saul and the Witch of Endor”. See the ULC website for more information www.ulcmn.org.

DRIVERS NEEDED to pick up students from their dorms. If you are willing to help, please sign up on the sheet posted in the narthex. Fall semester is starting soon. Help our students and our mission of bringing them to the Gospel by helping them get to church on Sunday mornings. If you have questions about how the ride program works or what commitment is required, please see Jason Havemeier.

FAMILY CONNECTION: We are looking for a few families who would be wiling to “connect” with one or more of our new students for the year. This involves little more than befriending the assigned student, perhaps inviting them home for a meal once in a while, or making other small gestures of kindness. If you would like to help, please sign up on the sheet posted in the narthex or let Pastor Kind know.

DOOR OFFERING TODAY: We will be taking a door offering today to purchase a gift for each of our recently ordained alumni, Ryan McDermott and Mark Preus.

CHAPEL CHOIR IS LOOKING FOR SINGERS: Jeff Brueske will be directing choir this year and would like to invite all singers who can read music to audition. He will be holding brief auditions Sunday Sept 12 after Divine Service. The choir will be singing four times this fall and four times in the spring (Dates TBD). He’s not asking for a weekly rehearsal commitment, but will schedule one or two rehearsals during the weeks preceding the Sundays we will sing. Please consider whether you would like to serve in this important part of worship. If you have questions, feel free to call Jeff at 612 724 9438 or email jefjbrue@hotmail.com.

COMMUNITY GARDEN: We are planning to start a community garden on the land between the chapel and the apartment building next door. The idea is basically to have a vegetable garden that would be grown and cared for by ULC members and students but open to the community to harvest. We would like to find someone who enjoys gardening to head up this project. We are also looking for people who will volunteer their time and energies in the garden in spring and summer of next year. Please see Pastor Kind if you are interested in leading or helping with this project.

SUNDAY SCHOOL will be starting on September 12th! There will be classes for four-year-olds through youth already Confirmed. Please consider teaching or leading the youth Bible study! Contact Amanda Frosch with questions or to teach.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: We are looking for five U of M students (grad or undergrad) who would be willing to serve this year as officers of Lutheran Student Fellowship (our campus organization.) Duties are not too time consuming; and involve helping with planning, outreach on campus and social events for our students. Please see Pastor Kind if you are willing to help by being one of our officers.

RUMMAGE SALE: Get rid of clutter by donating your old furniture to ULC for our 9th Annual U of M furniture/rummage sale. The sale will again be held the first weekend after classes begin in the Fall.
