Music has always been an important part of the church's life and worship. It certainly is at ULC. We invite you to play a part in our music. Here's some of what we have to offer:
Choir
Our choir is small, but dedicated; and is always looking for new voices. You don't have to be a Pavarotti either. If you enjoy singing at all, this is a great way to get involved. The choir is a liturgical choir, meaning that the music it produces is music that serves the liturgy of the church. This could mean singing a part of the liturgy itself, leading the congregation in hymnody, or singing a stand-alone piece that serves to emphasize the liturgical theme of the day. Choir practices on Wednesday nights from 8-9 p.m. and usually sings a couple of times a month at the Sunday service when the university is in session. If you would like to join the choir, or just find out more about it, please see our director, Carol Hasbargen.
Instrumentalists
Like vocal music, instrumental music has long been a part of the church's worship. At ULC instrumental music is important not just for leading the congregation in song, but also to highlight festival days and special occasions. We invite you to use your talents to help beautify our worship at ULC, whether you play organ, trumpet, flute, piano, guitar, or another instrument. If you are interested, please let Randy Martens (who is in charge of instrumental music), know what instrument you play and when you would be available. Randy can be reached at randym14@hotmail.com.
Concerts at ULC
Over the past few years ULC's chapel has gained a reputation among musicians for its wonderful accoustics. We've been blessed to be able to host concerts for both choral and instrumental musicians and plan to have several concerts each year. Watch this space or our calendar and news pages for concert dates and times.
