Session 1 Introduction
In what way is the cross an attack by God, as Forde asserts on page 1? In what way is this different from the cross merely being a reaction of God to sin?
What makes the theology of the cross “offensive” (p.2) and “polemical” (p.4)?
Why does Forde assert that there are in reality only two types of theology? (p.2) Where do other religions, sects, and spirituality movements fit and why?
What is at the heart of the “glory story”? (p.5-6) What makes this a false theology? How is the cross incorporated into this story and corrupted by it?
Forde claims that the “cross story” opens up the Scriptures (p.8). Is the “cross story” consistent with the preaching of Jesus Himself in the Gospels? How does this “open up” the Old Testament (and the New too)?
How do the “cross story” and the “glory story” deal with the issue of the human will?
